Words and Music at the Workspace
Debut concert of Diane Frank's poem "Pool," set to music by
SF Bay Area Composer, Jan Pusina, featuring Madison Emery-Smith, Soprano;
Erik Ievins, cello; and Carter Scholz, piano. Also by Jan Pusina on
the program: Wind Quintet in two movements; Flute a Cappella, with Joe
Schillachi, flute; Trees for the Forest for seven harps; Natural Poem
- song cycle for tenor, flute, viola and harp, based on poems by Hugh
Behm-Steinberg, John Davey-Hatcher, tenor; Song on poem of Penelope
Koutoulas; Electronic works including Testament of Breath. Refreshments
by Heidi's Catering.

Diane Frank reads new poems with Stewart Florsheim, author of The
Short Fall from Grace and A Split Second of Light, recently
published by Blue Light Press. His new book received Honorable Mention
in the San Francisco Book Festival, honoring the best books published
this spring! Erik Ievins will add his musical voice on the cello.

Diane Frank reads with George Wallace, accompanied by Erik Ievins on
cello. George Wallace, visiting from New York, is author of Bury
My Heart in Wet Sand, Poppin' Johnny, and recently, Jumping
Over The Moon. He is Poet in Residence at the Walt Whitman Birthplace
and a past poet laureate in Long Island. Diane is author of Entering
the Word Temple, The Winter Life of Shooting Stars, and
Blackberries in the Dream House. Her second novel and a new
book of poems will be published soon.
